How to give yourself a massage.
A self-massage could be just what you need to feel immediate relief from that gnawing ache or constant tension and it’s an opportunity to love and feel gratitude for your body.
Here’s how to do a self-massage at home.
If you really want to set the tone put on Spotify ‘Relaxing Massage’ playlist, diffuse essential oils and light a candle, after all this is your self care moment.
Begin rubbing hands to stimulate warmth and energy in your palms.
Cup hands over eyes to soften here, stroke across forehead and face. Circular motions using finger pads on scalp, like washing your hair and temples. Massage along ears.
Thumb and press any sweet spots along the occipital line where neck muscles connect at base of skull.
Stroke, knead like you would dough or squeeze back of neck and top of shoulders.
Kneading and stroking the arms, focus circular motions around elbows and wrists.
Stroking or thumbing muscles either side of the spine. Thumping with a lightly closed fist around hip and buttocks.
Stroking and kneading way down your legs into feet. Circular motions around joints, knees and ankle
Aim to massage area 30 secs to a minute you don’t want to over do it and remember harder is not necessarily better! Digging too hard may make the area more inflamed
Once you finished your self massage drink water to help transport the waste from tense muscles to the lymphatic system.
When you come out of your self care trance BOOK in a massage with me, after all no DIY treatment can be as good as the real deal!
